SLEEPING POSITION FOR HEALTHY FACIAL SKIN

Did you know that your sleeping position can take a toll on your skin? It is important to sleep the right way to avoid skin issues and possess that youthful glow you desire. Although it’s termed ‘beauty sleep’ because your skin goes into repair mode, lying in a certain position for several hours a night could be compromising your skin’s health.

There is shift in the balance of fluid distribution towards the upper body when we take the horizontal sleeping position which is why facial swelling is usually seen early in the morning. Continuous strain can eventually lead to stretching and sagging associated with an aged appearance.

However, If you find yourself shifting to your side during the night, try investing in a silk or satin pillowcase to prevent skin chafing and minimize these negative effects.

Sleeping on your back: (The best position for prolonging youthful skin) While it prevent wrinkles due to the lack of friction that causes wrinkles, it also stops the skin from feeling the pressure of your face folding into the pillow.

The top Doctor recommended position for good skin: Prop your head up with an extra pillow, 20 to 30 degrees elevated, to ensure that no fluid builds up as you sleep, which prevents puffy eyes come morning. If you’re not one who can naturally sleep on his/her back, try investing in a body pillow to prevent rolling onto your face and stomach.
